Last updated: 24 September 2026
Classic Boat Supplies is a trading name of [Marine Parts Australia Pty Ltd] (ABN 72 626 908 585) ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains how we collect, use, store and share your personal information when you shop with us online, in our Belrose shop, by phone or by email. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
1. The information we collect
We only collect what we need to sell and deliver your order and look after you as a customer. This may include:
- Contact and delivery details – your name, email address, phone number, and billing and shipping addresses (and business or boat name if you give it to us).
- Order and account details – the products you buy, order history, wish lists, your account login and any notes you send about an order.
- Payment details – see section 5. We do not keep full card numbers on our systems.
- Enquiries and feedback – what you send us through our contact form, by email or by phone, including photos of your boat or fittings.
- Newsletter preferences – your email address if you sign up for offers and news.
- Website usage – your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, the site that referred you, and date and time of visits, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see section 6).
We don't ask for sensitive information (such as health information), and we don't need it to serve you.
2. How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you when you create an account, place an order, fill in our contact form, sign up to our newsletter, call or email us, or visit our shop. Some information is collected automatically when you use our website. Occasionally we receive information from third parties, such as PayPal (to confirm a payment) or a delivery company (to update us on a delivery).
You can browse our website and make general enquiries without identifying yourself. However, we need your name, contact and delivery details to process and ship an order.
3. Why we use it
- To process, pay for, pack and deliver your order, and to handle returns, refunds and warranty questions.
- To answer your questions and give you product advice.
- To manage your account and keep our business records (including tax and accounting records).
- To send you our newsletter and offers, if you've agreed to receive them.
- To understand how our website is used, improve it, and show relevant advertising (see section 6).
- To detect and prevent fraud, and to meet our legal obligations.
If you send us feedback, we'll only publish it on our Customer Feedback page with your permission, and we'll only show your name and general location.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with the people and services that help us run our business, and only as much as they need:
- Our online store platform – BigCommerce, which hosts our website, customer accounts and order records.
- Payment providers – [our card payment gateway, e.g. BigCommerce Payments / Stripe / Braintree – CONFIRM], PayPal, and our bank for direct credit payments.
- Delivery companies – Australia Post, Direct Freight and other couriers, who receive your name, delivery address and phone number so they can deliver your order.
- Analytics and advertising services – Google and Meta (Facebook) (see section 6).
- Email and IT service providers – [our email/newsletter provider – CONFIRM], plus our accountant and IT support where they need access to our records.
- Suppliers – if an item is ordered in or made to order for you, we may give the supplier the details it needs to fill the order.
- Government and law enforcement – where the law requires or allows it, for example to prevent fraud.
5. Payments
Card payments made online are processed by our payment providers. Card details are entered directly into their secure checkout, and we do not store full card numbers. If you pay with PayPal, your payment is handled by PayPal under its own privacy policy. If you pay by phone, we key your card details straight into our payment system and [do not keep a written or recorded copy – CONFIRM]. If you pay by direct credit, we receive your name and payment reference from our bank.
6. Cookies, analytics and advertising
Our website uses cookies (small files stored in your browser) to keep items in your cart, keep you signed in and remember your preferences. It also uses analytics and advertising tools:
- Google Analytics helps us understand how visitors use our site. You can opt out of Google Analytics here.
- Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram) records visits and purchases on our site so we can measure our ads and show our ads to people who may be interested. You can control this in your Facebook ad preferences.
- Social sharing buttons (for example, Facebook, X/Twitter and Pinterest) may set cookies when you use them.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, parts of our website (such as the cart and checkout) may not work.
7. Marketing emails
We only send newsletters and offers if you've signed up or agreed to receive them. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, or you can contact us to opt out. We'll still send you emails about your orders.
8. Information sent overseas
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, mainly in the United States (including BigCommerce, Google, Meta and PayPal). If you order from overseas, your details also go to the delivery services in your country. We choose reputable providers and take reasonable steps to make sure they protect your information.
9. Automated decisions
We do not use computer programs to make decisions about you that significantly affect your rights or interests without a person being involved. Our payment providers may run automated fraud checks on payments under their own policies. [CONFIRM this is still accurate before 10 December 2026.]
10. How we protect and keep your information
Our website uses encryption (HTTPS). Account and order records are held on BigCommerce's secure platform, and access to our systems is limited to staff who need it. We keep order and financial records for at least five years to meet tax requirements, then delete or de-identify information we no longer need.
No website or online transmission is completely secure. Please keep your account password private, and tell us straight away if you think your account has been misused. If we have a data breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by law.
11. Accessing and correcting your information
You can view and update most of your details by signing in to My Account. You can also ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to close your account. Contact us using the details below. We'll respond within 30 days. We won't charge you to make a request.
